Sport & Recreation Officer

  • Pirlangimpi based 
  • Part Time
  • 5 days per week, 4 hours per day
  • Tiwi Islands based applicants only

What will I be doing?

  • Assist in the delivery of a mix of sports, recreation and leisure pursuits for the Tiwi Island, Regional Council communities.
  • Assist in providing after school programs for identified communities.
  • Encourage and support cultural activities for youth. Maintain a safe working environment and ensure that proper Work, Health and Safety standards are adhered to in all program activities.
  • Assist in the development of plans and priorities for future activities and services.
  • Nurture an environment in which participants are encouraged to participate.
  • Participate in on the job and formal training programs 

What are we looking for?

  • A current Ochre Card 
  • First aid Certificate 
  •  Current ā€œCā€ Class driver licence or willingness to obtain 
  •  Ability to work as part of a team and with minimal supervision 
  •  Ability to work and liaise with youth and the community in a positive way 
  •  Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people 
  •  Working knowledge of Workplace Heath and Safety 
  •  Good written and oral communication skills
