Sport & Recreation Officer

- Part Time
- 5 days per week, 4 hours per day
- Tiwi Islands based applicants only
What will I be doing?
- Assist in the delivery of a mix of sports, recreation and leisure pursuits for the Tiwi Island, Regional Council communities.
- Assist in providing after school programs for identified communities.
- Encourage and support cultural activities for youth. Maintain a safe working environment and ensure that proper Work, Health and Safety standards are adhered to in all program activities.
- Assist in the development of plans and priorities for future activities and services.
- Nurture an environment in which participants are encouraged to participate.
- Participate in on the job and formal training programs
What are we looking for?
- A current Ochre Card
- First aid Certificate
- Current āCā Class driver licence or willingness to obtain
- Ability to work as part of a team and with minimal supervision
- Ability to work and liaise with youth and the community in a positive way
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people
- Working knowledge of Workplace Heath and Safety
- Good written and oral communication skills
