What will I be doing?
The Carpenter will carry out hands on repairs and maintenance to all regional Council infrastructure, monitor inventory and provide services to external customers under external contracts when required and other tasks as directed. The Officer will provide effective leadership and training to Tiwi apprentices if required. The Officer will be required to travel between all the communities across both islands to complete works when required.
What are we looking for?
- Carpentry trade qualification to work in Northern Territory
- Proven ability to implement repair and maintenance programs
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proven ability to motivate, work with and lead apprentices.
- Ability in stock/material management.
- Ability to work independently and with small teams.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in working in a cross cultural environment and ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal people.
- Able to travel and work in remote communities.
- Current Australian Drivers Licence.
