Community Safety Officers (Wurrumiyanga)

  • 5 days per week, up to 5 hours per day

What are we looking for?

  • Proven ability to maintain positive working relationships with Council, staff and community members.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with, and continually improve client service delivery Sound oral and written communication skills and ability to write notes of incidents
  • Ability to remain calm in dealing with community issues Successful Criminal History Check
  • A current NT Driver’s Licence
  • Current Ochre Card

What will I be doing?

  • Patrol the community as directed by the Community Safety Team Leader
  • Diffuse violent situations and protect the vulnerable
  • Work in an integrated way, linking with ‘sobering up’ shelters, safe houses and women’s refuges
  • Divert intoxicated people away from contact with the criminal justice system
  • Provide transport for vulnerable people to safe places; such as home, safe houses, or to medical assistance, and
  • Provide advice, information and/or assistance that may reduce risk to individuals.
