Welcome to the Tiwi Islands Shire Council



The Tiwi Islands Shire Council was created under legislation by the Northern Territory Government in July 2008 and now administers the two Tiwi islands, Bathurst and Melville, and the communities of Wurrumiyanga, Wurankuwu, Milikapiti (Snake Bay) and Pirlangimpi (Garden Point), as well as a number of smaller outstations on both islands.

Information for 2013 Festival

MILIMIKA - Tiwi Islands Festival is the Northern Territory's newest arts, culture and performing arts festival. This is a weekend of celebration with proud Tiwi Islanders' sharing their culture, featuring local talent in music, dance, the Tiwi Bombers football team and lots of activities for kids. Further details will be available over the next couple of months, so please keep checking our website for updates.

There is no need for a Permit to attend the Festival

Please note you are not allowed to bring any alcohol onto the Island.

Travel to the Tiwi Islands by Fly Tiwi, the regular service or charter.
